Hydnocarpus
wightiana or Chaulmoogra is a tree in the Achariaceae family. The oil from its
seeds has been widely used in Indian medicine and Chinese traditional medicine
for the treatment of leprosy.
The fatty acid
composition is rather unique indeed: it contains:
- Hydnocarpic acid
- Gorlic acid
- Chaulmoogric acid

through Steam Distilled Extraction Method. Chaulmoogra Oil is a Pale yellow
viscous liquid and is useful in the treatment of skin diseases, scrofula,
rheumatism, eczema, as a counterirritant for bruises, sprains, etc. It is
sometimes also applied to open wounds and sores.
