They are usually captured by  simple expression(cold press process) or pressure(steam,water,dry distillation process), a process whose origins can be traced back to ancient Mesopotamia. Unlike ordinary vegetable oils, such as corn and olive, plant essences are highly volatile and will evaporate if left in the open air.
The chemistry of essential oils is complex. Most consist of hundreds of components, such as terpenes, alcohols, aldehydes, and esters. Moreover, due to their tiny molecular structure, essential oils applied to the skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

JASMINE GRANDIFLORUM ABSOLUTE
This is produced by the alcohol extraction of Jasmine concrete. A dark orange, somewhat viscous liquid and possesses an intensely floral, warm, rich and highly diffusive odor with a peculiar waxy-herbaceous, oily fruity and tea-like undertone.

Floral waxes

Floral waxes are what’s left over after the second stage of the floral absolute making process. Remembering that after the hexane is evaporated a waxy product is obtained called the CONCRETE obtained, which is further extracted by ethanol to obtain the absolute. The floral waxes that are left behind have recently been found desirable in use for various cosmetic applications as well as candles.

Flower wax is a by-product of the creation of essential oils for perfume. Flower waxes are the solid materials that are left over after the plant’s essential oil is extracted and chilled. This process separates the flower wax (the solid material) from the essential oil, which is sold to create the world’s finest perfumes. We use the flower waxes to make our cosmetics silky.

Essential flower wax is the vegetable wax (like beeswax) from the flowers, the solid material that is left after the plant scent is alcohol extracted and chilled. This separates the wax (the solid material) from the essential oil.
This process and new perfume substance can only be done in the laboratory or in the perfume industry.

Fragrant Floral Waxes are a wonderful way to add floral scents to cold-processed soaps, candles, solid perfumes, and more. Floral Waxes are the perfect addition for creating luscious lip balms, exotic solid perfumes and fabulous salves and ointments.

• When melting floral waxes, we highly recommend using a double boiler or a microwave at very low temperature. We do not recommend placing the wax in a pan under direct heat as this may cause the wax to scorch.
• To use in solid perfume or lip balm, we recommend melting the amount of floral wax required and adding a small amount of jojoba (or oil of choice) and mix well. Pour into containers.
• For creams & lotions add to the oil phase of your recipe.

Absolutes are also natural essences. They are usually essences of flowers which are too delicate to be extracted by steam distillation. Absolutes have the fragrance which resembles the essence of the flower more closely than the essential oil since some components of the essential oil are artefacts of the extraction process.

The preparation of the absolute is a two stage process. Stage one involves extraction of the plant material using pure hexane. This produces a thick oily, way fragrant product called a ‘Concrete’. The Concrete is then mixed with Ethanol and after thorough mixing it is filtered to remove the insoluble waxes. The ethanol is removed from the essence by distillation under reduced pressure. The essence left behind is called an Absolute.
