SPRING SEASON GREETINGS-AHF[ALLLURED HINDFRAG]

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.

You know how it is with an April day

When the sun is out and the wind is still,

You're one month on in the middle of May.

But if you so much as dare to speak,

A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,

A wind comes off a frozen peak,

April is the cruelest month, breeding

Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

Memory and desire, stirring

Dull roots with spring rain.

Its spring its spring

Oh I just can’t wait

To find fruits on the vases

And flowers on my plate

I want to hear the warm sun

And feel the robin singing

Watch the scent of the flowers

And smell the butterflies flying

Its spring its spring

I’m so full of glee

For the people will bloom

And the flowers will be happy

The gray fields shall be covered

With the magic of the meadow

And the brown sky shall be painted

With the blossoms of the rainbow

Its spring its spring

How can I be blue?

For it is the time of spring

And only the spring brings you

Gandhi's Talisman

"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man [woman] whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him [her]. Will he [she] gain anything by it? Will it restore him [her] to a control over his [her] own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to swaraj [freedom] for the hungry and spiritually starving millions?

Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

- One of the last notes left behind by Gandhi in 1948, expressing his deepest social thought.

Life styles and emerging market trends in India

In India since liberalization of the economy there is rapid change in life styles. There is a very global trend but there is good impact of local culture as well.

India's affluent who constitute some thing like 3-4 percent but some of them are so well off that they can make Forbes lists too demand special services.

These are consumers who like to collect and also celebrate occasions in a special way.

Weddings and Diwali are special occasions that created demand .

Collectors like collectors items - sort of special editions like antics and boutique type products.

Event management for weddings and theme weddings are equally getting popular. Some photographs are shown here- a rolls collection, a theme wedding of special royal style and a collector's item .

The youth segment is growing. Many market research companies are spending sums trying to understand this segment. They have done what is known as ,Mind Mapping to know their full profile and segment them .

The kid segment is also very rapidly changing. They now are rich guys who have plenty of pocket money and wish to make their own decisions on how to spend that money-it could be a greeting card for a valentine or strawberry sundae.

They are familiar with brands and can identify the car brands easily from a mile/Km distance.

The senior citizens are also changing their life style - they don't save as much as they use to do, they shop on line, watch cricket matches, tour and go for wild life observations and religious cum physical exercise tours , and take infinite care of their health and physique in gyms, health spas resorts and Yoga and nature cure places.

The upper middle income is growing rapidly. This constitutes a very attractive market. Here too there seems to be a need to display their wealth. They buy expensive dresses, visit expensive restaurants and tour in holidays.

India named global host of World Environment Day

"United Nations: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has named India for the first time as the global host of World Environment Day 2011 (WED) on June 5 for "embracing the process of a transition to a Green Economy."

This year's theme 'Forests: Nature at Your Service' underscores the intrinsic link between quality of life and the health of forests and forest ecosystems. The WED theme also supports this year's UN International Year of Forests.
India is a country of 1.2 billion people who continue to put pressure on forests especially in densely populated areas where people are cultivating on marginal lands and where overgrazing is contributing to desertification, UNEP said.
But the Indian Government has also found solutions, it said. While the socio-economic pressures on the country's forests are tremendous, India has instituted a tree-planting system to combat land-degradation and desertification, including windbreaks and shelterbelts to protect agricultural land.
In conserving its critical ecosystem, India has successfully introduced projects that track the health of the nation's plants, animals, water and other natural resources, including the Sunderbans - the largest deltaic mangrove forest in the world, and home to one of India's most iconic wildlife species: the tiger, UNEP said.
India has also launched a compensation afforestation programme under which any diversion of public forests for non-forestry purposes is compensated through afforestation in degraded or non-forested land.
The funds received as compensation are used to improve forest management, protection of forests and of watershed areas. Moreover, a government authority has been created specifically to administer this programme.
Achim Steiner, UN Under-Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director, said:
"Over close to the 40-year history of WED, India's cities and communities have been among the most active with a myriad of events undertaken across the country each and every year - so it is only fitting that this rapidly developing economy is the host in 2011."
Two of India's most prominent cities - Mumbai and Delhi - will be the venue for this year's global celebration of the environment, with a myriad of activities over several days to inspire Indians and people around the world to take action for the environment.
The celebrations in India June 5 are part of thousands of events taking place around the globe.
